Is the tutoring really free?

Yes! All our tutoring sessions are completely free. RELT is supported by volunteers committed to helping you succeed.

How do I sign up?

Complete our student application form and we'll contact you to discuss how we can help. We'll then match you with a tutor based on your needs and availability.

Do I need to speak English already?

No! We welcome students at all English levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners looking to improve specific skills.

What if I can't make a session?

We understand life happens. Just let your tutor know as soon as possible if you need to reschedule.

Can sessions be online or in-person?

We offer both! Sessions can be conducted online via video call or in-person, depending on what works best for you and your tutor.

For Tutors

Do I need teaching experience?

No formal teaching qualification is required. We provide training and resources to help you succeed. All you need is patience, empathy, and a willingness to connect.

How much time do I need to commit?

We ask for 1 hour per week for at least 6 months to provide continuity for students.

Are sessions in-person or online?

Sessions can be conducted online via video call or in-person, making it flexible and accessible for everyone.

What support will I receive?

We provide initial training, ongoing support from our coordination team, and access to teaching resources and materials.

What will I teach?

You'll focus on practical, conversational English tailored to your student's goals - whether that's everyday conversation, job applications, or specific skills.

Our coordination team carefully matches tutors with students based on availability, learning goals, and preferences to ensure a good fit.

Can I participate if I'm not in Australia?

Our students are based in Australia, but tutors can participate from anywhere as long as they can commit to regular online sessions.
